Scholarships Available for In-Demand Manufacturing Training

The Manufacturing sector comprises 14.4 percent of public and private employment in Iowa with 222,628 employees. These well-paying careers require education and training beyond high school, but many don’t require the often burdensome cost of a bachelor’s degree. Recent studies have shown that two-year degree holders, especially in high-demand manufacturing occupations, can earn salaries that surpass those of college graduates. A career in manufacturing means being able to join the workforce sooner, with less debt.

Elevate Advanced Manufacturing promotes great careers in advanced manufacturing. In 2022, Elevate is offering (15) $500 scholarships to Iowa high school seniors interested in studying a manufacturing-related career at one of Iowa’s 15 Community Colleges – one award will be given per college region. Scholarship recipients are required to attend the Legends in Manufacturing Dinner at no cost in the fall of 2022. The event will be held in Altoona, Iowa.

Examples of training programs at Northwest Iowa Community College to which the scholarship can apply include: Welding, Engineering Design, Design Technology and Industrial Instrumentation & Control.

Interested candidates should apply by completing the application found at https://www.elevateiowa.com/about/elevate-scholarship-program. Applications are due July 1, 2022. For more information about manufacturing careers, visit www.elevateiowa.com

Elevate Iowa is a statewide, integrated marketing campaign to promote careers and educational pathways in advanced manufacturing. This begins with building a positive perception of these careers while addressing misconceptions of work environment, safety, and wages. Elevate Iowa offers resources to the public and educational institutions to educate the unemployed/underemployed Iowans, U.S. veterans, along with K-12 students and their families about the opportunities in Advanced Manufacturing.
