Desired Qualifications:

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

 

1. Good basic math, reading, writing and verbal communication skills. Read and write basic English.

2. Be able to Stand and walk 90% of the time.

3. Be able to lift/carry up to 50 lbs. 5% of the time.

4. Perform occasional repetitive tasks(lifting & grasping 5 - 10 lbs.), while filling in for the tube puller.

5. Teamwork skills: work closely with the machine team, other operators, supervisor, manager and others.

6. Cooperation and flexibility: be willing to work in other areas of the plant if the need arises.

7. Lead and direct team members on day-to-day activities.

IMPACT ON OPERATION

 

Efficient, productive operation of the machine WITH no defective product getting to the customer is critical to a profitable

operation. The customer expects a product that is in spec and will run efficiently on their equipment and perform as

expected in the marketplace. Operators have the responsibility to accomplish this on their machine and provide their

in-house customers with a product that they can work with.

Duties:

PURPOSE OF POSITION

 

To operate the machine efficiently and safely for maximum production of defect-free multiwall bags.

MAJOR TASKS

 

 

 

 

1. Set-up the machine to run a bag with the desired specifications (i.e. length, width, gusset, step pattern).

2. Know and understand the controls of the machine, how to make adjustments and minor repairs.

3. Complete quality audits to verify proper specifications.

4. Keep the work area clean; sweep, pick up, etc.

5. Complete work cards to accurately describe work that was performed.

6. Fill in as the tube puller or roll Shafter as needed.

7. Train crew members as needed.

8. Meet safety, productivity and waste goals.

BASIC OPERATIONAL PROCEDURE

1. Have the print roll and all other inner ply rolls, including poly if needed, placed onto roll stands.

2. Adjust rolls as needed for proper seam location and set the perforator knives for proper step pattern.

3. Set seam paste and spot paste according to customer requirements.

4. Pull paper through to the draw rollers and set all forming devices and breaker bars.

5. Make sure that all guards in place and glue and ink reservoirs are filled.

6. Made sure that all accessory equipment is on and operational.

7. Start the machine slowly at first to be sure that the bags are breaking off properly.

8. Verify that the tube meets all requirements noted on the tuber quality checklist before starting production.

9. If OK, turn the machine up to production speed. If not OK, make necessary adjustments to correct.

10. Complete quality checks and production records as required during a run.
