May require assistance in developing and producing mold components. Works closely with Lead Worker and Director of Engineer to coordinate workload. Supports and troubleshoots tooling and production issues as part of the Roto Mold Team.

Creativity to fabricate and design new production equipment and machinery.

Ability to run mold finishing tools including: grinder and sander

Ability to change gas cylinders and welding wire rolls.


Duties:

DUTIES

1. Reads work order and blueprint to understand customer requirements and specifications. Refers to information throughout construction of mold or fixture.

2. Verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances of finished parts for conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as calipers, gauge blocks, micrometers, and dial indicators.

3. Visualize and compute dimensions, sizes, shapes, and tolerances of assemblies, based on specifications.

4. Constructs new molds, constructs production fixtures and maintains existing molds using metal fabrication equipment including shears, saws, presses, lathes, and rollers.

5. M.I.G. welds new molds, existing molds, and fixtures from mild steel, stainless steel, and/or aluminum. Pre-heats metal with torch. Lays out, positions, and tack welds product. Welds various types of seams. Chips or grinds off excess weld, slag, or splatter.

6. Smoothes and polishes mold interior surfaces using sander, grinder, and/or polisher.

7. Sand and glass bead blasts mold interior surfaces, as necessary.

8. Inspect finished dies for smoothness, contour conformity, and defects.

9. Identifies and executes improvements of molds and fixtures.

10. Once assembled, removes product by hand or forklift to other areas of the plant for additional finish work. Operates forklift and other material handling equipment as needed.

11. May use fabrication and welding skills to assist in custom fabrication of plant equipment.

12. Uses computer system to clock in and out of jobs and record any needed information.

13. Conducts housekeeping responsibilities including sweeping, putting away equipment as jobs are completed, etc.

14. Works as member of DHI Team, handling whatever assignments are necessary to meet production schedule. Assignments may include working in other divisions, etc.

15. Projects enthusiasm about the company through positive interactions with others, including internal and external customers.

16. Complies with company policies.
