Uses electrical and mechanical skills to perform troubleshooting, repairs, modification, and preventative maintenance on machinery and buildings. Repairs and maintains production machinery and equipment using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring and testing instruments, etc. This position requires multiple skills and knowledge in the areas of motor control, machine repair, variable frequency drive, and PLC.

SPECIALITY SKILL

  1. Possess high level of experience with DHI production equipment or possess specialty skill, expertise, or certification, such as:

Electrical: May install power supply wiring and conduit for newly installed machines and equipment. Connects power supply wires to machines and equipment, and connects cables and wires between machines and equipment. Diagnoses malfunctioning apparatus such as transformers, motors, lighting fixtures, etc. and replaces damaged or broken wires and cables. Replaces faulty electrical components of machines. Plans layout wiring and installs wiring, conduit, and electrical apparatus in buildings.

Other specialties may include hydraulics, pneumatics, etc.


Duties:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: includes the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Repairs or replaces defective equipment parts using hand tools and power tools, and reassembles equipment.
  2. Performs routine preventative maintenance to ensure machines continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, and the physical conditions of buildings do not deteriorate.
  3. Inspects drives, motors, and belts, check fluid levels, replace filters, and perform maintenance actions following established checklists.
  4. Uses tools ranging from common hand and power tools, such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, wrenches, etc., to precision measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing devices.
  5. Diagnoses mechanical problems and determines how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs as necessary.
  6. Inspects, operates, and tests machinery and equipment in order to diagnose machine malfunctions.
  7. Records maintenance and repair work performed.
  8. Cleans, lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.
  9. Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts, using hoists, cranes, hand tools, and power tools.
  10. May set-up and operate lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts.
  11. Operates forklift and other material handling equipment to perform maintenance duties, as assigned.
  12. Recommends measures to improve production methods and equipment performance.
  13. Ensures safe manufacturing processes are followed: safe machine repair and operation including lock-out tag-out, employee compliance of personal protective equipment requirements, keeping work area clean and free of debris, reporting of accidents in a timely manner, and participating in company safety team meetings or safety training as determined by Maintenance Manager.
  14. Works as part of Maintenance Team, handling whatever assignments are necessary to meet production schedule.
  15. Professionally and positively communicates with employees and management. Responds to the needs of internal and external customers. Follows the designated "chain of command" when reporting information.
  16. Serves as a positive example to other employees through proper compliance of company policies.
  17. Projects enthusiasm about the company through positive interactions with others, including internal and external customers. Works hard to keep employee morale high and positive.
