Job Description

This job is an experienced level tool repair and tool cleaning. This person will manage multiple tool repairs and modifications using internal equipment. This position will require the employee to operate manual and CNC equipment. The Tool Technician will be able to communicate with production and Engineering to troubleshoot problems.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to precarious places and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate requiring hearing protection in certain areas.   

Desired Qualifications:

Required Qualifications

  • Able to operate manual machining equipment
  • Read and modify G and M code programs
  • Program CNC 3 axis machining centers
  • Ability to read and understand standard ISO drawings
  • Understand and use GD&T
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Familiarity with different molding processes beneficial.
  • Exposure to multiple machining processes a plus
  • Exposure to industrial manufacturing a plus
  • Solidworks / Camworks experience a plus
  • Valid Iowa driver's license 

Computer Skills

  • Proficient computer skills.

Required PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)

PPE is provided by SEKISUI Aerospace based on the employee’s position and exposure.

Schedule:

Day Shift: Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM, additional overtime hours as needed

Swing Shift: Monday – Friday, 3:30 PM – 12:00 AM, additional overtime hours as needed

Night Shift: Sunday – Thursday, 10:00 PM – 6:30 AM, additional overtime hours as needed

Duties

  • Cleaning tool surfaces by removing excess resin
  • Apply release agents to tool surfaces as needed
  • Stages tools for daily work
  • Use manual machining equipment to modify and repair tools
  • Reading and creating G and M code programs
  • Program CNC 3 axis machining centers
  • Provide accurate time estimates to production management on maintenance functions
  • Understand the needs of manufacturing
  • Up to 5% travel may be required

Experience: Two year technical degree or 2 years' experience preferred. Completed training in proper software structure and techniques.

Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
